Context and Challenge

NHS Dorset CCG is the commissioning organisation for the whole county of Dorset. Their mission is to strive to lead continuous improvements to health and care services in Dorset and reflect a continually changing economy and society.

Some of their key values as an organisation include, being courageous, collaborative, responsible and responsive. In order to live these values and make good decisions, problem solve, and respond effectively and positively to the challenges they face, they recognised that staff need to be resilient.

The Solution

We worked with the CCG to develop and deliver resilience training throughout the organisation. We created a high impact half-day interactive workshop incorporating activities that would embed the learning, get staff working together in new ways and make the learning memorable.

Key themes included:

  • Staying calm and focused under pressure
  • Think clearly, make good decisions and be less reactive in the face of constant demands
  • Prevent stress before it happens by understanding the physiology of stress, resilience and performance and retraining the stress response.

The content is based on science and backed up by biofeedback technology used in elite sport to demonstrate what happens to the mind and body under pressure and how these simple tools can have a powerful impact on our physiology and brain function.
